A virtual private server, or VPS, is a virtual server that is placed on a computer and serves multiple websites at the same time. Multiple virtual private servers can be hosted on a single computer, each with its own operating system (most commonly, Windows and Linux, which we shall discuss later in this piece) that runs hosting software for a distinct user. Individual customers’ demands are met by VPS, which is configured to run the server software and applications they require.

VPS is suited for consumers who require server independence and control. Because both Windows and Linux are strong systems, it all comes down to personal preference, preferred software environment, and price.
